Holter Monitor

A Holter Monitor is typically worn over a 24 or 48 hour period to obtain a continuous recording of the heart’s electrical activity.

Different to an Event Monitor that only records data during an event, all 24 or 48 hours of continuous data from a Holter Monitor is analysed by a cardiac scientist.

Patients will be shown how to mark an “event” using the device and how to record details of symptoms in an activity log. These markers and activity log are then used by a cardiac scientist to provide specific information on the heart’s activity when symptomatic.

ON THE DAY

The device cannot get wet and as such you will be unable to shower for the duration of the monitoring period. Please shower prior to your appointment and refrain from applying any lotions, deodorants or powder to your chest on the day of your appointment.

Please wear a loose, two-piece outfit as you will be require to remove your clothing from the waist up.
